WHY I SHIFTED FROM BEING AN ESTABLISHED CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT TO A FREELANCE ACCOUNTANT?

Mabuhay! I am Alfie C. Tanaka, I am an Experienced Accountant with more than 19 years of exposure in the field of accounting and bookkeeping. I am a quality-driven professional with a proven record of excellent job performance. I Manage tasks at each stage with a diligent and attentive approach, carefully checking details and testing assumptions. I had been working in different organizations for the past years and it helps me establish my career in the profession which I love most, Accounting. For the past eight (8) years I had been an integral part of the finance team of DN-CDO Steel Corporation, a manufacturing firm based here in Cagayan de Oro City, holding the position of an Accountant and the Focal Point in the company.


Why I resigned from my post as an Accountant in the company?


When I decided to tender my resignation as the Accountant of DN-CDO Steel Corporation, many of my colleagues in the company were asking me, including my friends and acquaintances, why I have to resign from my current work. Everyone knew that I earned a much higher salary than my fellow Accountants who were working in other large companies here in our city. Not stating the fact that we have an annual performance bonus. I and my family knew that I had to let go of that position because while I was working at the company, it was eating up all my time, including the time that should be spent with my children. Especially, since they are gradually growing up and looking for time with me. I don't want the moment to come when they get used to the idea that I don't always have time for them. Especially with the arrival of COVID-19, changed everything that we used to have, and what you never thought would happen in real life would happen in a flash when you least expect it. This made me realize that my family is more important than anything you can have in this world.


Freedom and Flexibility


When the COVID-19 pandemic came, it changed my perspective not only as a father but as a family man I have to support my family. As a parent, money is not the only basis for you to support your family. You also need to give time, especially in today's time when our life is full of challenges. So, this made me realize that I should shift from being an Accountant in a company to being a Freelance Accountant online. Money is not the only reason why I decided to become a Freelance Accountant on the virtual set-up. The biggest thing that convinced me was having freedom at work and flexibility in working hours. When my children grow up, I want to be there to guide them when they need me. In addition, the possibilities you can get from being a Freelance Accountant are unlimited. Being a Freelance Accountant gives you a lot of opportunities. You have many choices and the freedom to choose what you want to do is also given to you. It is also not unknown to everyone that you can earn more because there are so many opportunities you can choose from.


Being A Freelance Accountant


As we all know, being a Freelance Accountant is a very risky decision when you are coming from a corporate setup. But, if you have the courage and determination in yourself to do it, you will become a successful Freelance Accountant. Only you can decide if being a Freelance Accountant is the right career path for you. When weighing the pros and cons of being a Freelance Accountant, it's important to consider your own goals and lifestyle to see if it's the right fit for you. If you're self-motivated and enjoy working independently, it’s a great way to earn a living in this field. Then again, the freedom and flexibility that can be enjoyed in this type of work setup are very appealing and we all know that we need it.
